Holy Spirit Services

This summer we are excited to announce four special evening services. Each service will be devoted to growing in our understanding and experience of the Holy Spirit’s power in our lives. God has made so much power available to us. Sadly, many Christians go their entire lives without experiencing all that God has for them.  Mark your calendars and plan to join us on these four special nights as we pursue God’s presence and power together.

Bridge To Employment

At Bridgeway Church we value serving people in practical ways. Bridge To Employment is a new ministry venture designed to help people who are currently unemployed and/or looking for a new job, to develop the personal skills to do so. The first free workshop is taking place this Saturday, May 1 from 8:30-11:30 a.m. at the Bridgeway Ministry Center (424 Duss Ave. Ambridge). Topics in the workshop include:

  • Achievement resume writing
  • Answering an ad
  • Presenting yourself at an interview
  • Managing your campaign

To reserve a spot for this Saturday, call Mary at 724.650.1040.

Great Weekend

Our first ever easter egg hunt went great on Sunday with about 50 kid’s in attendance. While I couldn’t be there due to preaching, I definitely saw loads of candy, tons of painted faces, and lots of smiles. I love opportunities to bless the children in our community through events like this. Huge thanks to all the volunteers who stepped up to make the event a success.

Don’t miss Easter Sunday at Bridgeway this coming weekend! It’s going to be a great service as we celebrate Christ’s resurrection together.

Easter Sunday presents a unique opportunity to invite unchurched friends and family to attend with you. Many people who don’t regularly attend a church consider attending somewhere on Easter… and there’s no reason why they shouldn’t be your guest at Bridgeway! Think of some of the friends you have made in the past year and invite them to attend with you. Pray for God to do a work in their hearts as they will hear a clear presentation of the gospel. I’m praying and believing that Easter Sunday this year is going to be a defining moment in many people’s lives!

Egg Hunt on Palm Sunday

Looking forward to our first Egg Hunt at Bridgeway coming up Sunday, March 28. Children’s ministry is such an important part of our church. If you have kids in K-5th grade, make sure they don’t miss out and plan to bring some others as well!

Winter Membership Day

Looking forward to our winter Membership Day this coming up this Saturday. We are changing up the membership process a bit to make it a little more convenient for people who are interested/ready to join the Bridgeway family.

After this Sunday all 6 messages in our Foundations series (the basic membership curriculum) can be obtained and listened to at your convenience. The membership day is one 3-hour class that will cover our church’s history, vision, values, & opportunities for ministry involvement. There is still time to add your name to the list if you would like to attend this Saturday. Email us here to RSVP.

Lunch will be provided! When: Sat. Feb. 6 | Time: 10am-1pm | Location: 424 Duss Ave.

Week of Prayer

Our annual Week of Prayer and Fasting is currently underway. Just a reminder about our 2 special prayer meetings this week. These special prayer times are all about calling on God to do what only he can do. Apart from his power we can accomplish nothing.

Annual Candlelight Service

Make sure to join us this Thursday for our annual Christmas Eve Candlelight Service. Its at our ministry center facility at 6:00 PM. In this one-hour service we will worship together with some traditional Christmas songs, hear from our Kid’s choir, and finish our “Do You Hear?” sermon series.

“Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and they shall call his name  ‘Immanuel’ which means, God with us.” Matt. 1:23

Fall Connection Opportunities

puzzle_piecesIn such a fast paced society it is sometimes difficult to develop true friendships. Yet it is so vital for our spiritual well being that we be connected with one another in real community. Connecting with others and developing authentic, life-giving relationships is simply a matter of making time for them. If we don’t invest the necessary time, our friendships will be continually plagued by superficiality.

Our theme as we head into the fall is CONNECTION and we are providing several ways to connect with other believers. Here’s a look at what’s on the radar in terms of opportunities to connect at Bridgeway:

  • Newcomer’s Lunch- After service Sunday, Oct. 4. RSVP by email
  • Fall Harvest Fest at Economy Park- Cookout, fun, & fellowship 3:00pm Sunday, Oct. 11
  • Fall Community Group Kick-Off- week of Oct. 18. Plan to join a weekly group
  • Bridgeway 1st Annual Golf Outing- 10:00am Saturday, Oct. 24 at Harmony Ridge Golf Club. RSVP by email.

Mark your calendars and plan to take some time this Fall to really connect.

Bridgeway Men’s Breakfast

Slide1

Connecting with other believers is so important for our spiritual growth. That’s why we are starting a new ministry to help guys connect with guys. This Saturday will be our first Men’s Breakfast. Sometimes we all need to just get out of the house and get around some other guys for  encouragement, fun, and food. Nothing like connecting with other guys over a hot cup and a hot breakfast. I’m really looking forward to hanging out with the Bridgeway men! Hope you can come!

Saturday, Sept. 26 9-10am

Bridgeway Ministry Center (424 Duss Ave. Ambridge)

“As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.” Prov. 27:17

Friday Night Worship

As a deer pants for flowing streams, so pants my soul for you, O God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When shall I come and appear before God? Psalm 42:1-2.

IMG_0069That is the focus of Friday Night Worship, a special service taking place this Friday. We will be spending an extended time worshipping the Lord and enjoying his presence.

So often we get into ruts in life, doing the same things, the same ways, on the same days, week in and week out. A little variety can go a long way in rejuvenating our spiritual life, as Mark Batterson says, “Change of place + change of pace = change of perspective.”

This Friday night at 7pm we will be gathering at the Bridgeway Ministry Center for an unhurried, unplugged time of worship. We will also be serving communion, celebrating water baptisms.

City Reach Week Begins

Picture 4

This week marks the beginning of our 4th annual City Reach. I’m really looking forward to what God is going to do. Three nights of special services Tues-Thurs at 7pm for children and adults with giveaways and free food followed by the annual Back-To-School Block Party on Friday at 7. Free backpacks and school supplies to every student in K-6th grade at the block party.

I love City Reach for three reasons:

1. It is a practical way to both declare and demonstrate the love of God

2. It unifies the church in purpose, vision, and outreach to our community

3. God always does amazing things and I get to meet a lot of really cool people in the area :)

It’s going to be a great week. If you live in the Ambridge area you won’t want to miss out!

Ambridge City Reach 09

Teacher Appreciation

promo_teacher

This Sunday is Teacher Appreciation at Bridgeway Church. Our local educators do so much to shape our society. They are often not thanked enough for all the lives they impact day by day. As a church we just want to give a little back and thank them for all they do. Be sure to invite any teachers you know. All teachers in attendance will receive a free appreciation gift (you’ll just have to show up to find out what it is :) .

Town Hall For Hope Promo

We showed this video promo for the event on Sunday. Town Hall For Hope with Dave Ramsey. The economy. Your money. Real Answers. Mark your calendars for 8:00pm this Thursday, April 23 at the Bridgeway Ministry Center (424 Duss Ave. Ambridge, PA 15003). You will not be disappointed!

Join us for Dave Ramsey’s “Town Hall For Hope”

ramseyAt the last minute we decided to host Dave Ramsey’s live simulcast event “Town Hall For Hope”. The even will be broadcast on the big screen live at 8:00pm on Thursday, April 23 at the Bridgeway Ministry Center (424 Duss Ave. Ambridge, PA 15003). Here’s a short description from their website:

“Dave will offer straight talk about the economy, recession, foreclosures and more. He’ll carefully explain where we’ve come from, where we are now, and what we should be doing with our money during this time. Then, Dave will spend an hour answering your questions live!”

Don’t miss out! It’s going to be amazing, childcare will be provided, and the cost is free! If you are in the area we would love to have you join us!

Family Emphasis Sunday

familyemphasis

Our grand opening month continues this weekend with Family Emphasis Sunday. Following the service we will have a free pizza lunch, family games, and prizes (including a goldfish toss… oh yeah). Be sure to bring your kids if you have any and invite some more to come with you this week!

Strong families are very important to us as a church. Families truly make up the fabric of our society, and children are shaped by their home environment more than any other. Therefore we want to partner with parents by helping them develop and enrich their kid’s spiritual development.

Easter 2009 at Bridgeway

joinuseaster2
Make sure you don’t miss Easter Sunday this weekend at Bridgeway. We’ve got some great things planned for the service as we celebrate our Lord’s resurrection. We will continue our Alive sermon series and see testimonies of changed lives in our community. Come early and bring some friends with you! I’m believing God for great things this weekend!

Grand Opening Month begins tomorrow!

sign-welcomeTomorrow morning begins the grand opening month of Bridgeway Church at Ambridge Area High School. I’m amazed by all that God is doing in our community and filled with anticipation for the future! This month we are launching with

a new name

a new location

and a new season of ministry.

Be sure to join us in the morning at 10:30. We are also kicking off a new sermon series called “Alive” taking a fresh look at the power of Christ in our lives. So much thanks to all the volunteers who put so much into this grand opening!

Grand Opening Month begins Sunday!

bridgewaylogo

I can’t believe this Sunday begins our Grand Opening Month! Don’t miss out, its going to be incredible. Check out the new website. Spread the word and bring some friends to church. God’s going to do amazing things!

11 Days till Grand Opening

3104963872_983546eb8d4That’s right. Only 11 days until the official, grand opening of Bridgeway Church! Since we began meeting at Ambridge Area High School in December, we haven’t done any public promotions of any kind. Palm Sunday, April 5 will begin our official, public launch to the community.

Marketing in and of itself cannot change people’s lives. Only Christ can do that. However, it is wise to use any means possible to spread the message. Promotional marketing is just one way of getting on people’s radar. We don’t want anyone in the Ambridge area to be able to deny our existence.

I hope our church is never called “The best kept secret in the Beaver Valley.” Yikes! I like how Mark Batterson puts it when he says, “The greatest message deserves the greatest marketing.” While we will be sending out mailers to the community, the best way to spread the word is through personal invitation. Word of mouth always trumps impersonal marketing.

Here are a few ways you can help spread the word:

  1. Pray like crazy for souls to be saved and that many people will be brought into the kingdom of God!
  2. Invite as many friends as you can to church in April!
  3. Talk about it on your blog, website, myspace, facebook, and twitter.

I believe we are on the verge of the most exciting season in the history of our church and I’m so excited about all that God is going to do!

Worship & Baptism Night This Thursday

wb1This Thursday at 7:00pm we will be having our first Worship & Baptism Night at the Ministry Center (424 Duss Ave). In this service we will take some extra time to spend in God’s presence through worship, communion, and water baptisms. I love our Sunday worship services, but I also think its really healthy once in a while to break the familiar cycle.

There is a freshness that comes when we change up the routine. In this service we will be able to take a break in our week to worship God in a smaller, more intimate setting. Also, there’s just nothing like hearing testimonies of lives that are being transformed by God’s power and celebrating communion together as the family of God.

If you would like to be baptized in this service, send us an email and let us know. We will tell you everything you need to know. There will also be a short class on water baptism at 6:00pm before the service. This class is for everyone wanting to be baptized as well as anyone interested in learning more about the meaning and significance of water baptism.

Grand Opening

3104963872_983546eb8d_bOn December 7th we had our internal, “soft opening” as we launched weekly services at Ambridge Area High School. Since we began meeting there we have not done a formal, public invitation.

Now that we are getting more and more comfortable with being portable and back in one large service, we are planning to do our public Grand Opening on Palm Sunday, April 5, 2009. In many ways, this will be a kind of re-launching of our church.

The entire month of April will be outreach oriented and designed to help us invite as many friends to church as possible. Studies show that 8 out of 10 non-churchgoers would attend with a friend if simply asked. I believe that God has called us to transform this area by leading as many people to Christ as possible!

Please join us in prayer that our Grand Opening will not only spread the word about ACC, but will be a life-changing, divine moment for many people in desperate need of a Savior!
