Reading With A Pen

I don’t know where I picked this habit up, but one thing I cannot do is read without a pen. It doesn’t matter what I read, if it’s the Bible or a book I always read with a pen and underline anything that stands out to me as memorable or important.

Reading with a pen helps me stay engaged with whatever I’m reading. It also helps to make reading more interactive. I used to be afraid of underlining because I thought I’d mess up my books. Then I came to realize that I’d rather mark something significant in a book so that I can find it easily if I ever needed to refer to it. Without underlining it, the chances of finding it again are very small.

So, for what it’s worth, I encourage reading with a pen. Look for significant statements and memorable principles. It may help you get more out of whatever book you’re reading.
